Review of Bangladeafy - "Narcopaloma"

INCREDIBLE INSTRUMETAL

By: Geoff Teach

Instrumetal always holds a special place in my heart for one straightforward reason: Without vocals, the complexities of metal orchestration are allowed to step to the forefront. As vocals can certainly make or break a listener's opinion of a band, not having them at all lets the musical genius speak for itself, clearly and concisely.

Spawned on the crowded streets of NYC, the two instrumentalists of Bangladeafy have returned from a three year absence with their second recording of perplexing, progressive instrumetal, Narcopaloma (Nefarious Industries); and much like early Animals As Leaders, Bangladeafy's music is more than enough to make the mind spin and senses tingle with its psychedelic and chaotic intensity.

Fully written and recorded by just two dudes (drums by Bangladeshi-descended Atif Haq and keys/samples/bass by partially deaf Jon Ehlers), Narcopaloma is seven tracks and fifteen minutes worth of dazzling instrumental ingenuity. Raw, fervent, and ferocious, Bangladeafy stands out from the crowd - and that is not easily accomplished in 2016, what with so many spectacular full-length albums being dropped all over the world this year.

Honestly, there is not a weak track on this killer release. From the first energetic riffs of "Termites" to the final moments of "Trillionaire", Bangladeafy's Narcopaloma yanks you in and captivates you with its utter vividness and vitality. Be sure not to sleep on this fantastic EP once it is officially released on August 26th, 2016. Remember, that's Bangladeafy, Narcopaloma. Write it down, print it out, take a picture...whatever it takes to not miss this brilliant release!
