Review of Bloodstrike - "In Death We Rot"
INDEPENDENT INSANITY
By: Geoff Teach
Exhumed from the depths of Denver is the new, female-fronted, blackened death metal phenom, Bloodstrike. Oozing and festering with putrefaction is the Colorado quintet’s first full-length effort, In Death We Rot (Redefining Darkness Records), and this eleven-track offering is an absolute hair-raising, full-throated exclamation from beyond the grave.
Admirably produced and capably composed, In Death We Rot from Bloodstrike features Holly Wedel on the growls, and in all honesty, this woman gives full-grown, bearded, uber-manly, male metal vocalists a serious run for their money. This girl can SCREAM! Right away, from the first snarls of “Abomination”, even the eyebrows of old-school, death metal veteran vokillists like John Tardy or Glenn Benton would probably shoot up faster than the mercury of a thermometer dropped on the Sun. Truly I tell you, this release (and the vocal performance contained therein) is top-notch.
Other standout tracks on Bloodstrike’s In Death We Rot, beside the aforementioned “Abomination”, include the title-track, “In Death We Rot”, as well as “Cancer Among Men”, “Maggots For a Whore”, and “S.S.B. (Sex, Satan, Beer)”. If you like your death metal blood-soaked and reeking of P.B.R. and freshly dug tombs, then I summarily suggest that you head to Bloodstrike’s pages and get your gore-caked hands on a copy of this superb album straight away. You will not be let down, I guaran-damn-tee it.
Keep it Metal! \m/ \m/
