Review of Hate Unbound - "Hate Unbound EP"
INDEPENDENT INSANITY

Often, metal can be quite complicated. Between all of the subgenres, dazzling new guitars and playing styles, and the sheer volume of acts vying for attention, the world of metal can sometimes become confusing and overwhelming, even for the seasoned veteran. With all of this information overload creating a white-noise effect, it can be massively relieving and extremely satisfying to find a new band that shuns the frills and the flash.
Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Hate Unbound is a perfect example of one of these no-nonsense acts. Simple, straight-ahead, and superbly heavy with a touch of grooviness, the relatively new Motor City quintet recently released their first self-titled EP, and although it contains only three tracks, Hate Unbound’s EP is robustly satiating and excellently executed.
Kicking off the EP is “Revolt and Destroy”, an agitative and commoving track whose chorus sticks with you long after you’re done listening. Next, “Open Your Eyes” is a riff-laden rager reminiscent of Lamb of God at their finest. And finally, “Suicide” stomps and crushes its way through three minutes and sixteen seconds of barbaric madness; it is definitely my favorite cut of this pointed EP.
